Kansei San Bijin "寛政三美人"
Kansei San Bijin "寛政三美人"
[Framed Art Poster]
Kansei Sanbijin or Toji Sanbijin (Three Beauties of Kansei or Three Beauties of the Time) are beauty paintings by the Edo period. It is one of the Ukiyoe artist Utamaro Kitagawa's most famous works. This elegant and gorgeous beauty painting depicts Toyohina Tomimoto, Okita Naniwaya, and Ohisa Takashimaya, three popular beauties at the time known as the "Three Beauties of Kansei". These beauties were considered unrivaled during the Kansei era of the Edo period. In the Edo period, women with small mouths, straight noses, and long, slender faces were considered beautiful. These ukiyoe beauties are a perfect example of this.
